So naturally, companies around the world will use love as an advertising strategy to spark the emotion in viewers, which usually results in them remembering the product. One such company, Extra Gum, released a heart warming commercial showing the love story between two teenagers and how Extra Gum tied them together from beginning to end. Gum has absolutely nothing to do with love, so the productdoes not exactly correlate with the subject, but the way they implemented it into two people falling in love makes it relevant. Of course people will not buy the gum because they believe it will make them fall in love with someone, but they just might buy the gum because the commercial connected with them on a personal level causing them to recognize the product being advertised. In the “The Story of Sara and Juan”, Extra gum conveys pathos by using an emotional song, and telling the innocent love story of two teenagers in their commercial to createa bond between company and buyer in hopes to sell their product. In the commercial, it starts out with a teenage girl who drops her books at her locker and naturally the boy comes to her rescue. In this love story however, he pulls out Extra Gum that makes her smile, symbolizing a connection and how he broke the ice a little bit. This is the first introduction of the product, and the first spark of their relationship. As each significant moment that has happened in their relationship passes by, the gum continues to make an appearance.
