Objective:To better understand the formation and characteristics of wave, transverse wave, and standing wave. Also, tomeasure the wavelength of the transverse standing wave in a string to verify the relation between tension of thestring (Fn) and the wavelength.Theory:A uniform string under tension with one subject to vibratory motion at right angles to its length, waves traveldown it. Transverse waves are produced as each segment of the string that is disturbed moves in a directionperpendicular to the wave velocity. The wave will advance a distance of one wavelength in a time equal to oneperiod T of vibration.
