Research  this site on stereotypes in the media  as well as an example of  controversy regarding  stereotypes and representation of race in the media .  Once you have gone through this  material go to the  Race  website presented by the American Anthropological Association and  watch the film "A Girl Like Me"  (about 7-8 mins long).   Read the following article  "Colorblindness: The New Racism"  to explore current debates regarding the state of race in  the U.S. Taking the information from the article, websites and the discussion from the movie, discuss the role of stereotypes in maintaining dominance over minorities (ethnic, racial,  gender, etc) and ethnic stratification systems in society.  Further, how do stereotypes  influence social identity and ideas of "us" and "them"?  Be sure to discuss specifically the re- created "doll test" from the movie and the article information. As a white female, I am definitely guilty of living under the guise of being “colorblind”.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
