According to the Domestic Violence Resource Center, 24 people are victims of rape, physical violence or stalking by an intimate partner (Facts and Statistics). This results in over 12 million men and women per year. This is staggering amount and makes very clear what a prevalent problem this is in our society. To paraphrase Mills, this personal problem affects so many of us that it is a public issue (Henslin 45). The DVRC also states that 9.4% of these victims are teens claiming that they have been “hit, slapped or physically hurt on purpose by a boyfriend or girlfriend”. If one in ten teens will have an abusive relationship, that is a systemic problem. I believe personal troubles might provide a catalyst to the violence, but we cannot attribute such a percentage of teens involved in DV to personal struggles. This problem is endemic in our society due to violence in our media, a lack of victim awareness and the delicate nature of recovering from these crimes.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
