This author of this work is Martin Luther King Jr. He was born no January 15, 1929 and was killed on April 4, 1968. He was one of the most renowned leaders of the American civil rights movement. He was also a political activist and a Baptist minister. One of his most famous works, the “I Have a Dream” speech, was delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. in 1963. Dr. King was the youngest man ever to receive a Nobel Peace Prize for his work as a peacemaker and promoting equal treatment for all races in 1964. On April 4, 1968 Martin Luther King Jr. was killed in Memphis, Tennessee on the balcony of a hotel. President Jimmy Carter awarded Dr. King a Presidential Medal of Freedom posthumously in 1977. He was also awarded a Congressional Medal f Honor in 2004 and a holiday was named after him in 1986.
