Maggie Morris Dr. Cummings FYS 125 September 20, 2007 Journal on Cathedral 1. Who is the author? The author of this work is Raymond Carver. Raymond Carver was an American poet and short story writer who was born on May 25, 1938 in Clatskanie, Oregon. He is considered to be the major force behind the revitalization of the short story in the 1980’s. Carver got his education from local school in Washington but did not attend college. He married a 16-year-old Maryann Burk at the mere 19 years of age. The two had their first child less than six months later and their second child, a son, a year after that. Carver worked a number of odd jobs trying to support his family. Carver moved his family to California to live in his mother-in- law’s home in Paradise. There he attended a course on creative-writing course that was taught by the famous novelist John Gardener. Gardener later became his mentor and a major influence on his life and writing.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
