Description
My field education experience was completed at the State of Michigan. The
State of Michigan offers services to families that have safety concerns and
complaints that have been submitted to Children’s Protective Services. The state
also offers foster care, adoption, licensing and juvenile services. The population
serviced includes children, adults, families, disabled individuals, those with mental
health diagnosis, substance abuse, domestic violence, homeless, parenting
concerns and individuals with trauma exposure. The population is very diverse,
and services are offered to all races and those of different cultural backgrounds.
I had the opportunity to work in the foster care department and do a dual
program for some cases. In the dual program I wrote petitions for cases I had in
Children’s Protective Services. A preliminary hearing was held, and the children
