Interim Assignment #3 Andrew Gladue WRITTEN COMPONENT After watching the powerpoint presentation in class, I was intrigued to seek out a controversial piece of advertisement to alter. I thought there would be none better than a cigarette ad. I found an advertisement online for Lucky Strike cigarettes dating to 1951. The advertisement shows white every day citizens from different backgrounds being happy in what they do. Their happiness is implied by the Lucky Strike cigarettes. I feel this would be very controversial today now that we know more about the risks of smoking. The original advertisement is targeting new and current cigarette smokers. It’s targeting new cigarette smokers by showing normal every day people being happy. When the ad was created, Lucky Strike hoped to target people who would use the
