Chi Nguyen History 10603.050 Dr Solonick Essay 1 – Take home Test American Revolution through the Treaty of Paris in 1873 The American Revolutionary War was the armed conflict between Great Britain and thirteen of its North American colonies, which had declared themselves the independent United States of America. One of the most important causes of this American Revolution was taxes. In order to pay off the debt that the Britain had incurred during the French – Indian War, the British government decided to put several tax acts on American colonies, such as Stamp Act and Townsend Act. Angry with these high taxes set by a foreign government that kept control their economy, thirteen North American colonies protested against “taxation without representation”. Ideas of the revolution started from then, with the Battles of Lexington and Concord (when the British heading to destroy a colonial arms depots in Concord Massachusetts) marked the beginning of the actual American Revolution. From the first shot fired at Lexington, the war broke out and the Revolutionary War covered the conflicts and battles fought during the American War of Independence. The Revolutionary War had begun.
