GENERAL CHEMISTRY 1 FIRST QUARTER Module 3 Welcome to my B.L.O.G.! (Balancing, Listing, Obtaining mole ratio following percent yield and Giving molecular formula) Most Essential Learning Competency: 1.Calculate molecular formula given molar mass (STEM_GC11PCIf-33) 2.Write and balanced chemical equations (STEM_GC11CRIf-g-37) 3.Construct mole or mass ratios for a reaction in order to calculate the amount of reactant needed or amount of product formed in terms of moles or mass (STEM_GC11MRIg-h-38) 4.Calculate percent yield and theoretical yield of the reaction (STEM_GC11MRIg- h-39)11
Before you engage yourself in studying this module, I want you to be guided on the following: While reading the contents, refer to the figures and tables used. This will enhance your understanding of certain concepts about the lessons. Some terms found in Brief Introduction are clearly defined in Remember section of this module. Follow the directions indicated in the activities. Usage of calculators and the periodic table are allowed. (If you don’t have a hard copy ofthe periodic table, you may refer to this link: ) Solve the given problems completely, include units and their cancellations. Round off all final answers to the correct number of significant figures. Upon completion of this module, you will understand the relationship of percent composition and chemical formula, also the quantitative relationship of reactants and products in a chemical reaction. Specifically, this module will help you to: utilize molar mass data to obtain the molecular formula from the empirical formula; write the skeleton equation of a reaction; apply the steps for balancing chemical equations; draw a structure of a balanced equation; identify mole ratios of reactants and products from balanced chemical equations; use mole ratios to convert between amounts of substances in a chemical reaction; and solve problems involving theoretical and percent yield of a reaction. Expectations 1To the Learners
Directions:Read the questions carefully. Write the letter of the correct answer on the blank provided before the number.
