Bailey 1 Isabella Bailey Dr. Moorhead ENC1101 10 January 2008 Neat People vs. Sloppy People M2 The author’s main purpose is to amuse and entertain. Britt manages to do this by using irony in her explanation of the two types of people. In most cases delivered by others, the author would attempt to take the opposite view on the matter. For example instead of them saying that “Neat people are lazier and meaner than sloppy people,” (Britt 239) and “their sloppiness is merely the unfortunate consequence of their extreme moral rectitude,” (Britt 239) they would be saying that sloppy people are in fact the lazier of the bunch. By taking this ironic and satirical look at the different personalities, the author accomplishes quite well the means to amuse and entertain their audience.
