LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR AND REFLECTION2Leadership Development Seminar and ReflectionOverview of the PresentationLeadership is a multifaceted phenomenon that determines corporate success or failure.I highlighted different aspects of this concept during my presentation to educate my audienceon it and demystify the existing myths. The leadership seminar is a holistic discourseexplaining various elements about leaders, their manifestation, and abilities. Primarily, thepresentation answered five specific questions about the topic: (1) are leaders made or born?(2) what makes great leaders successfully (what do they do or not do?), (3) why are someleaders ineffective? (4) What are your core values as a leader? (5) what is the best leadershipstyle? Although leading is often considered an inborn trait, people learn and take the reinsconfidently, achieving desired outcomes. Since the course focuses on diverse NorthouseLeadership Theories, I explicated different conjectures on the subject, illuminating theirfeatures, benefits, and drawbacks. Therefore, I dedicated my talk to multiple issues aboutyearning to enlighten the audience about effective, authentic, and servant leadership.After a brief introduction on the subject, I deconstructed the difference betweenleadership and management. While these concepts overlap in multiple work-related scenarios,the former focuses on influencing, while the latter concentrates on organizing andadministrating tasks. Forthwith, I discussed various leadership theories in line with Northouse(2018). I began with the trait approach before delving into the major personality traits,namely intelligence, self-confidence, determination, integrity, and sociability. I incorporateddifferent models, such as the behavioral approach, the three-skill (technical, human, andconceptual competencies) technique, and the situational tactic. The presentation differentiatesbetween leadership theories and styles. During its design and formulation, I learned thatleaders used effective behavioral styles, such as proficient communication, to address theirfollowers and receive prompt feedback conveniently.
