The Kindly Ones Democracy is the pinnacle of modern government.  Through thousands of  years of refining, we have found the pinnacle of democracy.  It did not, however,  have humble beginnings, especially in comparison to the brutal savagery that  ruled the land of Argos before its implementation in Greece.  In The Kindly Ones we see the triumph of the new Gods, democracy, and the court system. Far from the primitive nature of Agamemnon  and The Libation Bearers,   The Kindly Ones  shows a definite triumph of the new sky gods over the earth  gods.  To begin, the furies and Apollo have a massive power struggle throughout  the course of the play.  The furies wish to act on their nature and seek justice on  Orestes for killing his mother.  Apollo instead urges him to go to Athens and  speak to Athena about a trial.  Orestes’ trial sets the stage for the first recorded  legal deliberation.  This is landmark in the development of a civilized society.
