Unformatted text preview: Dance Movie Review: Center Stage This movie centers on teenagers that are in the American Ballet Academy (ABA) pre- professional program. This movie focuses on the relationships one develops while dancing in such a program. Jody the main character is constantly fighting the fact that the teachers believe she doesnt have the body type, while her roommate Maureen is the favored great dancer whom has danced at ABA since she was 6. All the dancers are working on workshops to present to other ballet companies and thus give them a career. The styles of dancing are a combination of ballet, jazz, and modern. Mainly the movie focuses on ballet as the main characters are in the ABA pre-professional program. However jazz is incorporated to the film when Jody takes a dance class at an outside studio.
