Noah Snyder POLS 101 Dr. Rebecca Britton February 18, 2008 Wall of Separation Between Church and State I must say that for the second week in a row I find myself disagreeing with Justice Antonin Scalia. I think that in order for this country to remain a secular state in which “all men are created equal” the “wall of separation” needs to remain firmly in place. I would go a step further and say that recently many politicians on the conservative side have been violating this principle in their policy and should refrain from using religion to justify policy. The most obvious of these justifications is the argument against abortion. Many sects of religion are against abortion and many conservatives play that card in order to justify their belief that we should repeal Roe v. Wade. Another major political issue that I constantly hear religious conservatives preaching about is gay marriage and gay rights. Many use the book of Job to justify why homosexuality is an abomination and has no place in our society. Separation of
