Earl Bostic, III Dr. Hibbs MGM 380WI Common Mistakes People Make When Writing a Resume and Cover Letter There are plenty of mistakes that people make when writing a resume or cover letter, but here I will highlight and go over a few that I feel are important. The number one mistakes that people make on their resumes or cover letters are spelling and grammatical errors. These mistakes make you look plain ignorant. There are so many ways to spellcheck and so many resources available to get this right. Another common mistake people make is using slang in a resume or cover letter. We all need to get into the habit of spelling all of our words out all of the time that way this mistake will be less common. Also, remember to keep your format consistent. A poorly formatted resume or cover letter will not even pass the first glance test. One huge mistake people make is not having a cover letter at all.
