Sarah Perkins Log 2a: Fieldwork Classroom Observation Before Class: Mostly silent A few friends looking over the same notebook talking quietly Most people staring into space, zoned out, waiting Drawing in Notebook Looking at computer Getting settled Woman in the front of the room is reading. Looks like she is making some sort of calculations. Has a big calculator on her desk. Room Set Up: Room is crowded so everyone must make some sort of communication upon entrance. In order to get to those few empty seats you literally have to squeeze past 10-20 people. Class: Professor enters (Class room noise level peaks than slowly decreases. Woman from front of the room gets up and starts to set up the powerpoint. Professor hands her the chords No words spoken Professor starts talking to the class, “Today we are going to be talking about—” (Cuts himself off) He begins to mutter incoherently to the woman in the front, trying to get things set up.
