Kosta Leontarakis ENWR 106 College Writing II: Writing and Literary Study Prof. L. DiFabio 2/2/08 Submitted 2/5/08 Because I could not stop for Death Response I first started getting familiar with Emily Dickinson in high school. This is one of my favorite poem’s I’ve read that she wrote so far. This poem shows compassion, mystique, and sets a unique mood throughout the entire piece. This poem takes us into the perspective of someone that has just passed away and is making his/her final trip down memory lane before finally being escorted to a life of immortality in the afterlife. In my opinion, I think what makes this poem so special is how it is written. You can actually close your eyes and imagine these events happening as if it were actually you in the carriage. The vivid imagery you can imagine is so strong and this is what makes this poem so different from others. I chose the stanza that I was able to paint the best picture of in my head.
