Ideas: Great people are contradictions o Contradiction and paradox o Gandhi – small, tiny, but made a great change in society o Martin Luther King – black (and was oppressed at the time) and was able to make a huge difference. His Idea: His high talent in music balanced out his low visual functioning ability. Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat: Seeing is different for everyone Upon first reading, it looked like Dr. P only had a vague representation of everything (abstract) o Mistaking water hydrants and parking meters for the heads of children. His idea of the height of children were correct, but not the details such as their faces o Mistaking his wife for a hat. He knew the shape of his hat (head like) but he couldn’t distinguish it from a real head because of minor details? o Couldn’t distinguish from his shoe and his foot. Reading it again, looked like he had a more visual representation of the details. (concrete)
