Sara Green Lesson Plan #7 Subject: Earth and Space Science Grade: 4 Content: Students will create a three dimensional model of the solar system, and understand the relation of size between the planets. Prerequisites: Students should know the eight planets, and Pluto. They should also know the basic order of the planets, and a general size. Instructional Objectives: Students will understand the relationship of the nine planets in our solar system to the sun by creating a three-dimensional representation. As well as understand the planets’ relative distance from the sun and their approximate size in relation to the Earth. Instructional Procedure: Introduction- Break the classroom in half, and then from each half create a group for each one of the planets. If size doesn’t allow this create only eight groups total. (2- 4min) Read from The Magic School Bus Gets Lost In Space , introduce the students to the concept of how large planets actually are. (5-7min) Middle- After students are divided into groups, each group will be assigned a
