Jason Winckel ALS 101 Assignment #2 A possible career path for me offered here at Cornell would be Investment Banking. Investment Bankers help companies and governments raise money by issuing and selling securities in the capital markets (both equities and debts). Almost all investment banks also offer strategic advisory services for mergers, acquisitions, divestiture or other financial services for clients, such as the trading of derivatives, fixed income, foreign exchange, commodity, and equity securities. But, to be extremely honest, I want to make money. Investment Banks are constantly competing for size and power, which in turn, makes them produce more profit, which in turn, ends up spread out to the Bankers themselves. Here at Cornell, Investment Banking is a career path that is taught at the Parker Center in the Johnson School of Business. The Johnson School is located across the street from the Statler Hotel in Sage Hall. The Parker Center is widely acknowledged to be at the pinnacle of graduate education in investment research and asset management. What sets them apart is their combination of innovative, high-impact research; their student-managed hedge fund; superb teaching, and unparalleled electronic facilities. The best part about the Parker Center is that it is basically run by the students themselves. They have a $13 million Cayuga MBA Fund that is run
