Confessional Approaches - apologetics: denotes the reasoned defenses of the Christian religion against intellectual objections, attempt to establish certain elements of faith - religious education: education by believers for believers, involves personal conviction - theology: study of religion by people who are typically insider participants of the religion they are studying -famous theologians: Augustine : Aquinas; Al-Ghazali ; famous Jewish theologian Maimonides B. Religious Studies Subjective involvement vs. objective analysis Subjective: a scholar trying to understand the perspective of insider perspective as one source for analyzing a religious tradition (looking at something influenced with your own feelings) Objective:
