Maria NajeraOctober 20, 2015 Dracula’s Guest Reading Response Information Source: Name: Abraham “Bram” Stoker Date of Birth: November 8, 1847 Date of Death: April 20, 1912 Biography: Bram Stoker was born in Clontarf (near Dublin, Ireland). Being around Irish folklore, he took interest in the supernatural which he found while being bedridden for an un- known childhood illness until the age of 7. When Stoker grew up, he studied at Trinity College where he specialized with honors in science, mathematics, oratory, history, and composition. Af- ter college, he entered the Irish Civil Service and served as an Inspector of Petty Sessions. He then met the actor, Henry Irving in 1876 and by 1978, had moved to London with Irving where he was acting manager at the famous Lyceum Theater. That same year he married Florence Bal- combe although many thought the marriage was loveless. They had their first and only child, Noel, in 1879. Stoker wrote many stories but did not fully achieve success until he wrote Dracula
