Anthropology 3150: Term Project Fall, 2015 Objectives: Learn how to gather information on the cultural environment in a specific country, and utilize that information in a team setting to develop culturally-informed recommendations for a new business in that country. Groups will be formed at the beginning of the semester and each group will be assigned a country. The group will divide amongst its members the various socio-cultural aspects of that country. Social and Cultural Characteristics 1 Language & Communication 2 Education 3 Religion 4 Values 5 Technology 6 Social Organization (classes and hierarchy, gender roles and the Family) 7 Political & Economic Environment (government and legal environments) Each individual will conduct research on his or her social or cultural characteristic. For this research, each individual will use at least three very good academic sources and summarize their contents in a term paper format. Academic sources means books or articles aimed at academic (not mass) audiences – usually such sources have a list of references or a bibliography at the end. Encyclopedias, newspapers, popular magazines, sources from the Internet, and text books used in this course do not count as one of the three sources. The format of your individual term paper will be an five page essay in which you summarize the information contained in the three sources and explain why this information is relevant to the start- up or operation of a business in your country. The group report will be developed by answering specific questions that are attached. The questions cover key considerations and decisions that need to be made in starting up a new business. You are expected to participate and cooperate with members of your group by sharing the information you obtained in your individual research. Answers to the recommendations report questions should be written up and will be turned in for the group portion of your grade. Toward the end of the semester each group will present its recommendations report in your discussion sections. The quality of this presentation also will be considered in determining your group grade. Questions to be answered in developing the business recommendations report Remember to answer all of the “Why?” questions ______________________________________________________________________________ Wayne State University / Allen W. As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
