What can a brother do? By Nathan Sullivan Within Elias Chacour’s story of suffering and loss the reader is not only faced with what had happened to this man but also what would they do in this same event were to face them. This text confronts every reader on what they feel it takes to be not only a Christian but also how to be a person. As a young boy Elias is chased out of his village and is beaten by the people that pushed them out of their homes. But amongst all of this he is taught by his father that he must love these people even if they do things that harm them. He is taught the beatitudes by his mother at this young age. He makes God a part of his every day life, which is not a small task at any age. He shows that he knows and wants to learn even more about his Lord. He looks to God for comfort every time that he is in need and he puts his life in the hands of the Lord, which is uncommon for people at almost any age however this child that has barely begun to live his life has already made large steeps to walk the path of the
