11/27/05 Macbeth Essay Draft 1 Macbeth at the start of the play is seen as a soldier who is loyal to King Duncan. However, his ambitious wife and the three witches corrupt non-corrupted Macbeth. Lady Macbeth is a major driving force in this story. If it had not been for the witches prophecy and the ambitious nature of Lady Macbeth, Macbeth would not have killed King Duncan. After Macbeth was convinced by Lady Macbeth to kill the king, and he does, he seems to not be able to stop his path of destruction. At the beginning we are seeing a nice wife, but we find out that she is a very persuasive and ambitious wife. At the start of the play Macbeth is loyal to the king by his drive to fight for him. However, his curiosity gets the best of him by leading him to the witches. After Lady Macbeth finds out about the witches prophecy her ambitious and cold nature lead Macbeth to his destruction. Macbeth of course wants to be King and he is convinced by Lady Macbeth to kill for it. It is obvious that Macbeth does not really want to kill
