Students, This is a note about the topics you are selecting for your research paper. Many of you are simply choosing one of the SUGGESTED authors I gave you without thinking about other possibilities. Consequently, about a thousand of you (more or less) are choosing to write about Edgar Allan Poe. That means about two or three of you will find the materials you need in the library (or other places), and the rest of you will be frantically wringing your hands wondering what you are going to do. First, think about what you want to write about more carefully. There is still time to give this better consideration. For starters, let me mention some more authors in your textbook that have good secondary sources from which you can get material to help support your thesis; in addition, the material should be easily available: Isabel Allende Arthur Miller Raymond Carver Tennessee Williams
