Drury 1 Summer Drury Mrs. Bailey English 1102 February 6, 2008 My Sense of Place What we do in our day-to-day lives affects how we make decisions later on in life. The same is true for the places we’ve lived throughout our lives. Each community has its own unique customs and type of mini-culture that help shape the lives of the residents. Depending on where you have lived, and for how long you lived there, each person will have their own distinctive personality that can’t be matched by anyone else. These experiences will help determine how people will look at life and the things it throws at you. Personally, I have lived in many different homes; luckily they have revolved around four main communities. My first seven years were spent in the Tampa, Florida area with my mom and dad at first. However, that was cut short about a year later when my parents split up. When that happened, my mom and I moved into an apartment in the same area by ourselves for about 2 years. Then my step-dad moved in with us, and quickly realized how small it was and moved us into a house before marrying my mom. About a year after that my little brother was born, and soon after that, only 14 months later, my sister was born. From there we moved to Charlotte, North Carolina. There my mom, step-dad, brother, sister, and I all lived in a house for about 3 years. That’s when we packed up and headed north yet again, all the way to Chesapeake, Virginia. My step-grandparents moved in with us, so we could help my step-grandmother, Janet,
