CHE 102 Julianne Stiene Exp. 14 Flow Chart February 11, 2008 Work in pairs - Carefully insert one medicine dropper into a #5 1-hole rubber stopper (A) - and another medicine dropper into a #0 1-hole rubber stopper (B) if you are using a measuring tube - OR a #00 1-hole rubber stopper if you are using a buret in place of a measuring tube - Construct the apparatus in Figure 14.1 in the laboratory manual - Nearly fill the pneumatic trough with water that is exactly at room temperature - A carboy of room temperature water may be made available for your use - Add hot or tap water to adjust the temperature, if necessary - Make certain that the stop cork is open if a buret is used as the measuring tube - Add room-temperature water to the leveling bulb until the measuring tube is filled to the top calibration mark (0.00mL for measuring tube or 50.00mL for a buret) when the water level in the leveling bulb is the same as the measuring tube - Check the apparatus for leaks by lowering and raising the leveling bulb
