Criminology – Essay Question Sample - The purpose of a short essay question is to provide a concise, usually multi-part answer in a direct and organized manner - The question will usually impart direction: for example, ‘list and elaborate upon’ OR ‘list and provide examples of’ OR ‘for each of the 5 principles provide elaboration and 2 examples’ OR ‘discuss the value of’ - You should spend the first part of the ‘answer’ organizing your answer!! - If you have 25 minutes per question, spend five minutes at the beginning ‘laying out’ how to answer the question - Try point form at this stage ‘set it up’ - Use a piece of paper to ‘map’ your answer and do this for all your answers Sample Question: “According to your text, the Classical School influenced criminology for a long time due to the work of Cesare Beccaria and Jeremy Bentham. Briefly summarize the major points of both these authors as well as the five key concepts that resulted from the Classical School’
