X-100 Study Guide Statement of Cash Flows – explains financial changes that occur in a company from one accounting period to the next. Balance Sheet – shows the company’s financial position on a particular date. Balance of Payments – the inflow and outflow of money in a country Income Statement – shows income, expenses, and profit of a company over a period of time. It is useful in enabling decision makers to assess overall revenues and the costs involved in generating those revenues. GAAP – the guidelines or standards adhered to by the accounting profession. Accounting – the process of developing and providing reliable financial information to those who have a need, either inside or outside the company, to support sound decision- making. Financial Management – input to aid in decision-making regarding the strategic direction of financial planning. Line of Credit – an agreement with a bank to make a certain amount of credit available on an as-needed basis. Promissory Note – written promise to pay a specified sum on a particular date Debt and Equity Financing – equity financing represents use of assets belonging to the company, whereas debt financing is carried out with borrowed money.
