Introduction: The purpose of this lab was to learn how to tape accurately over uneven ground. Additionally, some techniques such as using a plumb bob and “breaking the tape” were experimented with. Equipment: 1. 50 meter tape 2. Plumb bob 3. Stakes 4. Finishing nails 5. Hammer Procedure: A five-sided traverse has been staked off behind the Keuper building. Determine the distance of each of the five sides using the following procedure. 1. Measure each side of the traverse three times using a 50-meter tape. Be sure to switch directions each time. 2. Use the “breaking tape” method on at least 3 sides of the traverse. 3. Make sure the tape is level by having a member of your team eye the tape since there is a tendency to have the downhill end too low. 4.
