Introduction: The purpose of this lab was to determine the elevation differences that were in different points by using differential leveling. Equipment: 1. Self level 2. Tripod 3. Rod 4. Rod level 5. Stakes 6. Surveying tape 7. Finishing nails 8. Hammer Procedure: A five-sided closed traverse has been staked off behind the Keuper building. The benchmark (BM) is one of the five points along this traverse. The elevation at BM is 6meters. Determine the elevation at the four remaining points along the traverse using the following procedure. 1. Determine the halfway mark between the BM and TP1 by pacing. Each team member should pace the distance and an average of the halfway points should be determined. 2. Place your tripod at this point. Be sure that it is at a height that is comfortable for all of your team members to see through the level. Secure the tripod legs.
