Abstract: The goal of this lab was to calculate elevations at points on a grid system using only foresight readings. This was done by setting up the level at a corner of the traverse and taking one initial backsight to point A and taking foresights along the whole traverse. Radial lines were placed at 10 degree intervals and points were setup at every 5 meters along the lines until the end of the traverse was reached. The person holding the rod would need to align with the person using the level to make readings possible. From the data collected it was determined that Point B was the highest point in the survey while Point D was the lowest. This means that the direction of flow would go from Point B to and spread out to cover the area where Point D was located. In addition, to point D being the lowest point, points C and E were not too far off being the lowest. Equipment:
