With the holiday season quickly approaching, one thing is on everyone’s mind: shopping for the perfect holiday gift. No one knows what to get the special person in their life or where to buy it. Retailers however are under as much pressure as anyone else during this special time of year. The article I chose to analyze for this paper concerned the lengths retailers are going to in order to hopefully attract enough holiday business to keep their stores open. There are many different aspects of economics that could be discussed about this article but I will mainly discuss the price discrimination theory. The concepts of supply and demand, and market equilibrium will be referenced to clarify the analysis. The result will be an analysis that will answer the question on everyone’s mind about prices this holiday season.
