Maya Jordan WS 385 Sexual Identity February 7, 2005 LGBT Health Website Analysis Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) health issues are rarely addressed in the public eye. It is a common misconception that people who belong to the LGBT community are more prone to health issues because of their identity and behaviors. With recent interests developing in LGBT health issues there have been websites, articles, etc, which try to address the health issues of members of the LGBT community. One site, in particular, which I found does a pretty good job of addressing health concerns of those part of the LGBT community. A sub site of the “King’s County Public Health” site which specifically addresses those who identify as part of the LGBT community covers many issues which concern people of the sexual minority in our society. The website is directed mainly towards members of the LGBT community but could also be a good source for those just looking to find information. It also has a separate link for health care providers. On the main page it gives various definitions of terms related to the LGBT people, such as definitions of each term and various others for those who could simply be looking up information about the issue. They also state the fact that while members of the LGBT population do have concerns of their own they too do face some of the concerns of heterosexual people too, and also points out that just as
