When we were younger, we were told it was perfectly fine to color outside the lines. Wewould color to our hearts content with no worry for anything that might happen. When we areyoung, we are told its good to dream for the impossible. When we start to get older, were told tobe realistic and set attainable goals. But when did that change? When did thinking or beingoutside the box become unwelcomed? Personally, for me I have always felt like I was outside ofthe box trying to look in. Growing up with five siblings that have all achieved so much therebecame this high standard for success. I was always told “think realistically about what you wantto be” or “just follow what your sister is doing.” The more you are told to stop reaching for theimpossible the more you feel like you must prove everyone wrong for ever doubting you. Butwhen did aiming high become wishful thinking? I decided a while back that I would stay outsidethe box. I was not going to give up on my dreams no matter how unattainable they might seem.
