Laura Dunn English 101 10-5-06 Essay 2-Observing Ch. 3 TO BE GRADED The Carnival in My Room A few years ago I got the chance to repaint and make over my room. It had been baby colors my whole life—pastel pink, blue, yellow, and green on the walls. I had a princess waterbed and matching white-with-gold-trim dressers, nightstand, and desk. This space in no way reflected my personality or lifestyle, so it was time for a big change. My dad was in charge of the whole operation. He took me to Home Depot and Lowe’s and I found the brightest pinks, greens, and yellows they had. My inspiration was somewhat like a psychedelic watermelon. The hot pink was for the walls, alien green for the trim, and lemon yellow for the ceiling. My mom was definitely wary of how the finished product would look—it was a leap of faith for her (and good luck painting over hot pink walls). As soon as the first coat was on, I knew it would be perfect. Eventually my room was completed and we put on the finishing touches: plastic bead
