What did Jean_Marie Floch do in her semiotic analysis of IBM and Apple logos? Basically, Floch showed that logos do not exist in isolation. Instead, they are built in a context that gives meanings to them. This example shows that first, communication is not just words (unspoken language makes a very important part of communication) and second, how people communicate certain meanings to each-other. The last, this examples shows how anthropologists can be helpful in decode meaning and/or help business to build right the messages they want to transmit. The main goals of this unit are to: 1. Examine the nature of communication in business and especially in conducting business across cultures 2. Understand the influence of Culture on Language and vice-versa 3. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
