Sociology 150 Fall 2015 Field Report 4: FINAL FIELD REPORT Thesis Statement. Data Round-Up, Literature Review, and Interpretations of Findings The fourth and final field report will be due in class and on-line on Monday, November 23. This report covers territory similar to that you wrote on in report 3, but in this submission, we expect you to give us (and yourself) a thorough and complete picture of the data and scholarship you will be working with for your second paper -- a solid analysis of the social construction of a sociologically significant identity among individuals. We ask that you condense your submission to THREE pages of single spaced text or six double- spaced pages. As in the third Field Report we ask that you be clear about the characteristics of the identity, social role performance, or attitudes and behaviors that define the topic of your investigation. Take the necessary steps to further refine or clarify the social factors (practices, rules, meanings, beliefs systems, or significant others) that you found linked to a given social context that are involved in the construction of that identity. We ask that you enumerate your observations and report on how you would use them in a paper. As in the third Field Report we ask that you be clear about the characteristics of the identity, social role performance, or attitudes and behaviors that define the topic of your investigation. the social factors (practices, rules, meanings, beliefs systems, or significant others) that you found linked to your study site that are involved in the construction of that identity. This interim report should have several parts. I: Thesis statement -- No more than half single-spaced page What claim are you making and supporting about a sociologically significant identity and its development or acquisition among individuals and members of groups? Organize your thinking and the presentation of your data following the simple analytical model of X Y, which describes how some features of the social environment (X) are associated with or contribute to ( ) some set of defining behaviors or attitudes or perspectives of persons that express an identity (Y ).
