Cameron Barth Dr. Johnson CHE 101 4/15/2008 Essay #5 The U.S. government takes ‘necessary’ precautions to help protect the health and well being of its citizens, but when do they take this so called protection too far. Currently, there is a great deal of controversy on the subject of whether or not vaccines should be mandatory for children attending school. This controversy can be almost completely credited to the current belief that vaccines are linked to autism and other diseases in young children. So, with these possible risks we now know about is it really in the best interest of not only our lives but the lives of our children to potentially contracting viruses we haven’t had to deal with in some time. Currently studies are being preformed to try and determine whether or not a variety of vaccines such as, MMR and DRT, may be linked to the sharp increase in the number of diagnosed cases of autism.
