Meet Ruby - World's Fastest Rubik's Cube-solving Robot (June 6, 2011) A team of students from the Swinburne University of Technology managed to develop a robot that was able to break the world record for the fastest Rubik's Cube- solving robot. Dubbed Ruby, the machine is able to solve the 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube in 10.69 seconds. The registered time includes the time taken for the machine to scan the cube before solving. It would be interesting to note that the robot was built from scratch. Ruby was the students' final year project for the double degree in Bachelor of Engineering (Robotics and Mechatronics)/Bachelor of Science (Computer Science and Software Engineering). The robot makes use of a webcam to scan each face of the cube and come up

Ruby represents a mix of a quick computer vision-tracking system, software algorithm and a control system that performs high precision motor movements, reports Physorg. It would be interesting to note that the previous record was set by a robot called the Cubinator. The latter managed to solve the Rubik's Cube in 18.2 seconds. As for humans than the person currently o²cially registered as the fastest Rubik's Cube solver is Feliks Zemdegs who managed to show a time of 6.24 seconds at the Kubaroo Open 2011. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
