Dangers of plastic strawsPlastic straws present various forms of dangers and hazards to different kinds of species and the environment. To start with, poor disposal of these straws negatively affect aquatic animalswhen they consume them resulting into suffocation which may cause their death, for instance the case of Sea Turtle spotted in the off coast of Costa Rica (Knight, 2013). Studies indicate these plastic straws constitute 10 per cent of waste deposited at the U.S coastline. In the long run, the toxic substances attributed to these plastic straws end up in the food chain as they aretransformed into microscopic particles (Wilshire, Nielson & Hazlett, 2008). In addition, they pose a hygiene problem as their poor disposal leads to blockage of sanitary and drainage systems that accelerate cases of water borne illnesses amongst people in the neighbourhoods
