Week 1Readings It seems to me that although the baby boomers and much of the world have been aging, social scientist, domestic and internationally, did not really study in much detail on aging, and specifically, aging in regards to gender, race or ethnicity, and social class. Social Gerontology, I learned “allows us to see the link between history and biography [CITATION Sto001 \p 1 \l 1033 ]. In reading and studying the word gender in the text, now I understand why and how the term gender was being used, not looking at biology but as social values. So in our study of aging in this course, we are reviewing the social values of aging in respect to gender, race or ethnicity, and social class. It’s interesting to read how cohorts with the same or similar social values can be affected with their own personal experience.
