This week’s reading caught me by total surprise. I had never heard of a cultural were ‘kinship’ systems allowed women, mother’s, sister’s and daughter’s to wielded so much power. I tell you, I like it. The matrilineal society is so different, but not really, I’m just accustomed to the male being the head of everything. It’s the man’s turn to ‘experience a divided loyalty, their role as fathers and brothers giving them interest in two sets of children. Thus, how a man conducts himself during his life course, social and moral status, reputation and past behavior can determine if he will be taken care of or shunned in his old age. Normally, men don’t have to worry about reputations. I enjoyed reading about the four ‘world cities’ and hope to visit them all, I have already lived in New York. New York and London are hard and Paris and Tokyo are soft. It appears to me that New York and the U.S. tend to have more poverty, health care services obstacles to overcome and higher ‘avoidable mortality.’

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
