Kristen KoltvedtHIS 2150GrigorasMarie Antoinette and the French RevolutionIn the movie Marie Antoinette, the life of Marie is shown from her crossing over from Austria to France all the way up until her death. To begin the movie, Marie is very unhappy first having to leave Austria and then having to deal with her extremely awkward husband Louis Auguste (later known as the Dauphine of France and then King Louis XVI of France) and her intruding court members. However, as the movie goes on, Louis slightly warms up to Marie and she becomes a little more accepting of her role as Dauphine and her place in France, though she is still miserable. Unfortunately, the French people begin to disdain the French royals because of their lavish spending habits. Louis, Marie and their children are eventually forced to flee France and escape to various other cities until they are finally caught and put to death. Throughout the movie, there are many characteristics of the Old Regime shown. The most repetitive theme was the awful economy. The scenes of the lavish shopping done by Marie
