However, interpersonal, organizational, and culturalcommunication is so much broader and more steeped in unconscious, implicitcommunications, what we refer to as non-verbal communication.Non-verbal communication alone is a broad source of communication which includes,gestures made with the body or head, eye contact, facial expressions, tone of voice and eventhe negative space between receive and sender, known as proxemics. These forms ofcommunication, whether they are intentional or not, are so influential in communicatingattitudes and emotions and manipulation of the immediate social situation(Argyle, M.),as well as supporting verbal communication and as a replacement of verbal communicationWithin my home, in the office or interacting in public, I rely heavily on conscious non-verbal communication. Some of these techniques or practices have varying degrees ofimportance and some need practice to assist in my day to day life. Most of these methods ofnon-verbal communication are environmental; and reflect my cultural upbringings in theNorth east region of the United States, a lot were acquired through my local community in themusic scene and a lot were picked up during my time in the military.
