Preschool i. Read a book/story at bedtime every night ii. The bear that has buttons and zippers and shoe laces and says ABC’s and counts to 20, practice with the child. iii. Most adults work during the day, so taking the child to an active daycare/preschool during the day that does a variety of things such as helps with learning, allow playtime, interaction with others their age, painting, etc. iv. Give daily hugs and words of encouragement and let the child know you love him/her and have the child respond the same way. b. School-Age i. Everyday ask the child details about his/her day and help with homework. ii. Play board or computer games that encourage knowledge such as brain teasers. iii. Encourage the child to get involved with sports or art, something outside of school that allows him/her to use other parts of the brain
