Carlos Garcia oCarlos is the father to the four girls and is the Husband to Laura. oThe girls describe him as controlling and overbearing. oHe tried to overthrow the dictator of the Dominican Republic, Trujillo. oHe and his family had to leave the country after his reckless actions, causing the family to suffer a huge transition. oHe and his daughters have tense relationships due to him not being able to accept that they're growing and trying to accustomed to a new way of life. oCarlos believes that the girls should follow the way of life as Dominican women should. oIn general, he's headstrong about the lifestyle of Dominicans. Thus, wanting his daughters to maintain the same life they had on the island.
Laura Garcia oLaura is the mother to the four girls and the wife to Carlos. oThe girls describe her as being high class and spoiled in a way where she's viewed by others in a negative way. oLaura struggles to grasp the new lifestyle and transition when immigrating to the States. oShe's used to being a high social class lady that the transition to an immigrant nearly drives her to go crazy. oHowever, she attempts to adapt to a new American life, trying to identify as another American. oUnlike Carlos, she's supportive and understanding with the girls. oShe and the girls have a close bond, allowing her to gain a sense of comfort through her children.
Carla GarciaoShe's the oldest of the four sisters.
