Case Study Assignment GEN/480 Version 3 1 Case Study Assignment ASSIGNMENT OVERVIEW Prepare a report for the CEO of AcuScan about the situation described in the GEN 480 Critical Thinking Case Study. Your report should include the following two parts: .1 Part One: Respond to the specific questions on the worksheet that follows (100 points possible). .2 Part Two: Write an executive summary for the CEO of AcuScan. (100 points possible). PART ONE: Use the case materials to complete this assignment. Analysis .3 Describe all assumptions seen in any of documents provided in the case study. For full credit, provide AT MINIMUM: four to six assumptions held by Kelly; six to nine assumptions held by Pat; two to three assumptions held by Cliff; two to three assumptions held by Chris. .1 Kelly Kelly made the assumption that Pat had no prior knowledge about quality control. She also assumed that Pat’s prior experience in the cereal business meant that he had no experience related to technology. Due to the recent lay-offs at AcuScan, Kelly assumed that new product development would not be possible because the company would be too understaffed. These lay-offs also lead Kelly to the assumption that the retinal scanner’s features would not be completed by the deadline. .2 Pat Pat is also guilty of making assumptions. He assumed that the addition of a new product to the current product line would be an uncomplicated change. Pat also made the assumption that there would be more than enough time for the programmers to finish the new product. Next, he assumed that disagreement from others meant that they were unenthusiastic and uncommitted to the new product. He also made the assumption that outside contractors could do the job within the set deadline. Due to Pat’s education and experience as a project manager, he assumed that communication in a meeting setting would resolve the disagreements and problems. He assumed that customers of the new product would be content with any newly developed product because AcuScan is an established industry leader with loyal consumers. Due to Kelly’s concern about Pat’s experience and knowledge with quality control, he assumed that Kelly was not on his side.
